The Guinness Kerry National, the feature of the Harvest Festival in Listowel, has attracted a strong entry and odds of 8-1 the field reflect the competitive nature of the race. In an open renewal, The Goffer has strong each-way claims at a huge price and with a little luck in running he could be the one to give trainer Gordon Elliott a third win in the race.
The selection was pulled up when last seen, but has been given a break since that run at the Punchestown festival. Twelve months ago, he contested this race off a mark of 145 and stayed on nicely in the closing stages to take fifth place, beaten less than 10 lengths, behind Desertmore House. On that occasion, the ground had gone against him somewhat and so the effort should be upgraded.
