The main drama on Thursday’s programme in Clonmel came prior to the fifth race when a section of one of the trees adjacent to the parade ring came and fell across the fencing and into the ring itself. Fortunately, nature provided a warning with a creaking which had those closest to the tree scampering to safety. Thankfully, there were no casualties, human or equine, and measures were taken to bring the horses safely to the pre-parade ring.

In the on-track action, Ben Coen enjoyed the best of it, recording a 30.5-1 double which included the feature, the Camida Advantage Tipperary Cup Handicap, aboard Cathy O’Leary’s En Or.
