In a remarkable week at the Galway festival, the amiable Ross O’Sullivan saddled his fourth winner from as few runners when Volantis justified heavy support in the Guinness Galway Tribes Handicap Hurdle.
Victory, which came under a well-timed ride by Keith Donoghue, brought the stable’s tally to six consecutive winners in Ireland — on Thursday evening, when all focus was still on the action in the west, he put the smallest, least significant blot on the week’s copybook when Fair Taxes got beaten in a sprint at Wolverhampton.
