The numerical dominance of Irish-trained horse in this afternoon’s Randox Grand National at Aintree can result in a fifth win in the last six runnings of the race, and Willie Mullins, whose sole previous win in the race came courtesy of Hedgehunter in 2005, can land the spoils with I Am Maximus.

The now eight-year-old won last season’s Irish Grand National in great style and showed improved form when winning a Grade One Novice Chase on his first start of this term. He was pitched right in at the deep end for his next start, when fourth in the Savills Chase at Leopardstown, and again when third to Galopin Des Champs in the Irish Gold Cup.
