Saturday’s card in Fairyhouse makes little appeal from a punting perspective, though the Grade Three SBK Solerina Mares’ Novice Hurdle is a fascinating race from which Jade De Grugy can emerge with an enhanced reputation.
Winner of her only start in her native France, she made a winning hurdling and Irish debut at Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting. There was little depth to the race, but Butcher Hollow matched her for much of the trip before she asserted in the closing stages.
