Weekend tips: Jet Setting Johnny can make it third time lucky over fences

PRIMED TO SHINE: Mister Policeman wasn't especially impressive in making a winning debut over fences at Fairyhouse in November but he he is sure to be better for the outing and can follow up at Naas on Sunday.  Picture: Healy Racing

Earlier this week Cork Racecourse was unfit for racing due to waterlogging, and while Saturday’s card should go ahead without issue, conditions are sure to be extremely testing. The card looks quite difficult for punters, but there was plenty to be taken from Jet Setting Johnny’s recent efforts over fences and he can get off the mark in the Quays Bar And Bistro And The Stables Bar Carrigaline Beginners’ Chase.

Ellmarie Holden’s six-year-old showed only a modicum of ability prior to this season, but the switch to chasing appears to have prompted some improvement. A well-beaten fourth behind subsequent Grade Two winner Silent Approach on his chasing debut, he then went to Clonmel where he stepped up quite considerably on his previous effort by finishing a close third behind Henn See and Ask Anything. Rated 102 over hurdles, which qualifies him for this race, but already 113 over fences, he can take this at the expense of Nephin Beg and Noble Blue.
