Martin Hassett: 'When in doubt, call on Sean Flanagan'

The return to Tramore yielded an overdue change of luck for Bynx as she made all the running to take the Jimmy Shanahan Memorial Handicap Hurdle under a Flanagan ride which impressed winning trainer Martin Hassett.

Lightly raced but talented, Jungle Boogie gave local trainer Henry de Bromhead back-to-back wins in the Grade Three Savills New Year’s Day Chase at a rain-soaked but well-attended Tramore Racecourse.

Gauging the ground and setting an appropriate pace was difficult in the inclement conditions but winning rider Darragh O’Keeffe did a great job. It was all going perfectly to plan, right up until the point when Danny Mullins, aboard odds-on favourite Classic Getaway, switched from stalking the pace to taking it up going to the second-last.
