Ruby Walsh: Galopin Des Champs proves biggest festive treat

On the fifth day of Christmas, HRI said to take a break, and I will gladly do so, but the past four days delivered everything and a bit more.

It all started with Mirazur West going west before Il Est Francais went north on everybody's list of incredible performances at Kempton. What he appeared to the naked eye to do was backed up by the clock. James Reveley, overlooked by so many when based in his native Britain, showed everyone just how good a rider he is by allowing this fantastic French star to roll along on the brink of 30mph and he only missed one beat at 18 jumps on a horse having his first run over our traditional-style jumps. It was a sight full of festive cheer that will live long in the memory, but it was only the beginning.
