Weekend Irish preview: Dee Capo can successfully step up in grade for Gordon Elliott at Navan

PROMISING TALENT: Dee Capo cruises to victory at Cork earlier this month. He can build on that success at Navan on Saturday.  Picture: Healy Racing

The National Hunt season takes another step forward with two terrific cards this weekend in Navan. The nap on Saturday’s card goes to Dee Capo, who can follow up his recent maiden hurdle success by taking the Grade Three Bar One Racing For Auction Novice Hurdle.

Gordon Elliott’s promising sort has some wayward tendencies but looked better than ever when winning in Cork. It wasn’t the strongest race, but he was in a different league and, while it was less than a fortnight ago, he didn’t have a particularly hard race. This is a step up in grade but not a significant one for the four-year-old and he is preferred to She’s A Fine Wine.
