Caravaggio is likely to next grace the stage in the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh on August 7 following his leading role at Royal Ascot.

Aidan O'Brien's brilliant two-year-old has carried all before him so far, winning his three starts in impeccable fashion - especially when bringing up the hat-trick in the Coventry Stakes at the Royal meeting last month.

And the runner-up Mehmas franked the form in no uncertain terms when successful in the July Stakes at Newmarket last week.

"I would imagine that the Phoenix Stakes is the obvious target, although no plans have been finalised," said Coolmore's UK representative Kevin Buckley.

"Whereas Churchill (winner of the Chesham Stakes) will ultimately be stepped up in trip, being a Galileo, as for Caravaggio, he is a speed machine."

Despite Buckley's reservations, Caravaggio is ante-post favourite for the Qipco 2000 Guineas at a best-priced 4-1, with Churchill next best at around 10-1.
