Today is National Jockey Day and Irish jockey Bryan Cooper has perfectly summed up the day with a wonderful act of heroism at Gowran Park.
While riding in a race at the Co Kilkenny racecourse today both Cooper and rival jockey Robbie Power suffered falls at the same fence.
During the fall Power’s leg became tangled in his saddle and as he dangled precariously from his horse Cooper sprung into action.
Cooper scrambled from his own fall to grab Power and prevent the horse from taking off with him in such a dangerous position. Had the horse got away with Power he could have been serious injured or even worse.
Not only does Cooper save Power, but he stays with him until Power finally manages to get free.
The Tralee native has unsurprisingly and deservingly been hailed as a hero on Twitter.
