Bookmaker refunds accumulators on ‘Mullins Four’ after Annie Power fall

Paddy Power has refunded all losing accumulators on the so called ‘Mullins Four’ after Annie Power fell at the last in today’s Mare’s Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Following wins for favourites Douvan, Un De Sceaux, and Faugheen - all from the Willie Mullins yard - Annie Power incredibly fell at the last, while clear, to cost punters a fortune in lost accumulators.

The refund is thought to have cost the bookmaker around €500,000, but it is believed that had Annie Power gone on to win the cost to Paddy Power - along with other betting shops - would have been millions.

Both Annie Power and jockey Ruby Walsh are said to be “fine” after the fall.

Spokesperson for Paddy Power Féilim Mac An Iomaire said, “Having your horse fall at the last is the racing equivalent of a kick in the knackers and it’s only fair that we refund our customers their hard earned.

“Punters were all over the ‘Mullins four’ and we hope this gesture goes some way towards mending the broken hearts.”
