Europe bids to be champion again

The evergreen and ever popular Sizing Europe is set to make his fifth successive appearance in the Boylesports.com Champion Chase at Punchestown on Tuesday.

Henry de Bromhead’s 12-year-old won this two-mile Grade One in 2012 and has been placed in his other three attempts, including when second to Sprinter Sacre 12 months ago.

With the latter unable to defend his crown, there is a three-pronged British challenge in the shape of Mick Channon’s Somersby, David Pipe’s Ballynagour and Module from Tom George’s stable.

Champion trainer Willie Mullins saddles Turban and Twinlight among a field of 10 declared at the 48-hour final declaration stage.

De Bromhead also fields Days Hotel, with likely favourite Hidden Cyclone, Baily Green and Savello the other contenders.
