Jacob recuperating after surgery

Daryl Jacob has a date in his mind by which he wants to be back in action following a successful operation on his shoulder.

Paul Nicholls’ new stable jockey is likely to be out for around two months after undergoing keyhole surgery and he is eagerly looking forward to the jump season starting in earnest.

“Thankfully everything went well,” said Jacob.

“It’s just one of those things but the surgeon was very happy with how it went.

“Basically it was just down to wear and tear, I’d had a couple of bad falls on it and it was just getting looser and looser. I tried my best to keep going with it for about a month and a half and was having intense physio but it had to be done.

“In our job there’s no good time to be injured but it’s better now than in the middle of winter I suppose so I’m half lucky that way. I’ve got a date in my mind when I want to be back and I’ll be working like mad to be fit for it.”
