Galileo ready to rock at Epsom
Galileo Rock is on course to take his chance in the Investec Derby at Epsom on Saturday.
The David Wachman-trained colt has had just three career starts, winning by seven lengths on his debut at Leopardstown before finishing fifth to Trading Leather in a Group Three at Newmarket.
His reappearance this season saw him beaten less than a length in third in the Sandown Classic Trial, with subsequent Dante Stakes winner Libertarian immediately behind him.
Wachman told the Irish Times: “The plan was always to go to Sandown and then the Derby. We’re very happy with him and he’s a well-balanced colt who likes fast ground.
“The favourite (Dawn Approach) has the best form from the Guineas but Epsom is a one-off place and we think our horse will run well.”
Galileo Rock was one of 11 Irish-trained colts from 15 horses left in the Derby at Monday’s confirmation stage.
