Athasi return for Harasiya

Harasiya could take on older fillies for her seasonal debut in the Canford Cliffs EBF Athasi Stakes at the Curragh on May 6.

John Oxx’s charge is already a Group Three winner as a two-year-old and her trainer wants to start her off at that level, although he feels the seven-furlong trip is the minimum distance for her now.

“She’s a nice filly and did well for us last year. She will run in the Athasi Stakes at the Curragh the first Monday in May,” said the Currabeg trainer.

“The trip might be a bit on the short side for her, but it’s a good race to start her off.”

Oxx has many promising fillies in his care including Sinaniya, who is in the same ownership of the Aga Khan but she has not been back in training long after suffering a setback.

The American-bred daughter of More Than Ready made most of the running when winning her only start at the Curragh in June.

“She had a setback and didn’t come back to us until the end of February so she is someway behind the others,” he said.

“She looked a smart filly on the day and we are hoping she might develop into a stakes filly. We have no plans as such for her yet.”
