It has been confirmed that jockey JT McNamara has been paralysed after suffering a serious neck injury during a fall at the Cheltenham Festival.

The news was confirmed in the latest statement updating his condition.

McNamara's family have said that he is in a "very positive" frame of mind, despite suffering a serious neck injury.

The 37-year-old experienced jockey is still being treated in Bristol but will eventually be transferred to the National Spinal Unit at The Mater Hospital.
