Towcester’s meeting this afternoon must now pass a second inspection at 10.30am.

Officials at the Northamptonshire circuit require a second look after having assessed conditions at 8.30am.

Overnight temperatures fell to minus 4C, but conditions are improving.

Clerk of the course Robert Bellamy said: ``It's a very gradual process, but it's not like we are in the middle of February.

“Temperatures are rising, and we have bright, clear skies.

“My gut instinct is that we will have another inspection later in the day.”
