Sandown inspects again while Warwick goes ahead
This afternoon’s meeting at Sandown must pass a precautionary inspection at 10.30am.
Although no problems are anticipated following a successful 8am inspection, course officials require a second assessment once the frost covers are removed.
Overnight temperatures dipped to zero degrees, but with a minus 4C wind chill.
Clerk of the course Andrew Cooper said: ``I just think it's sensible in the circumstances to take stock and look again, especially given the temperatures we have had this week.
“We are pretty confident we will be fine.”
Meanwhile, this afternoon’s fixture at Warwick has survived an 8am inspection and goes ahead as scheduled.
The possibility of a sharp frost had been an issue, but overnight temperatures remained over freezing.
The going is soft.
Clerk of the course Sulekha Varma tweeted: “All good. No frost overnight or this morning. Will start removing covers from 9am.
“Temperatures remained above freezing overnight and through dawn.”
