Waterlogging claims Haydock

Sunday’s meeting at Haydock has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

Clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright was due to inspect conditions at 2pm, but 13 millimetres of rain so far today have forced him to make an earlier call.

He said: "The track is waterlogged in places. We have had 13mm of rain this morning and there's 10mm or more to come. There's no prospect of improvement so we have to face up to reality.

“Yesterday was pretty much dry, but today has been brutal and there’s no chance of it drying it up.”
