Carlisle set for Saturday inspection

Officials at Carlisle are hoping Sunday's meeting can go ahead despite calling an inspection for 3pm on Saturday.

Clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright reports the track to be frozen in places at present, but a thaw is forecast over the next few days.

He said: "We are frozen in places at the moment but the temperature is above freezing and a significant band of rain is forecast to move in.

"There's no point inspecting in the shorter term as we know the track is frozen, so we will have a look tomorrow afternoon.

"There must be a sporting chance we will race on Sunday."
