Heavy rains hit UK meets
The recent heavy rain has hit racing at two tracks in the UK.
Tomorrow’s meeting at Sedgefield has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.
Clerk of the course Phil Tuck was forced to call an 8.30am inspection with areas of standing water on the track and more rain forecast today.
He said: “We have abandoned. It’s still raining now and there are patches of standing water on the track.”
At Southwell, Wednesday’s meeting has been cancelled, although discussions are under way to see if the fixture can be transferred.
Clerk of the course Roderick Duncan was forced to abandon today and tomorrow’s meetings at the venue due to a waterlogged track.
He reports conditions to be worse this morning so Wednesday’s card cannot be run at the Nottinghamshire course, although they are hoping to switch the meeting to Wolverhampton.
He said: “I would say it’s worse here this morning, we have water through some of the buildings and on the track.
“We won’t be racing here on Wednesday but the meeting is not abandoned yet as there are discussions about transferring the card.”
