Waterlogging claims Worcester

Tomorrow’s meeting at Worcester has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

Clerk of the course Fergus Cameron was due to inspect conditions at 8am after heavy rain left areas of the track under water.

However, with little chance of sufficient improvement before the meeting, he has made an earlier call.

He said: “Unfortunately we have had to abandon. Although it was mainly dry yesterday, the level of the River Severn has risen another five centimetres since yesterday afternoon.

“We have not got a racing line on the run-in or the Cathedral bend as they are totally waterlogged and there just isn’t sufficient time for the track to recover.”
