Newton Abbot set to inspect
Officials at Newton Abbot will stage a noon inspection to assess the prospects of racing going ahead on Saturday at the Devon venue.
The course has been hit by torrential rain over the last couple of days, leaving parts of the track waterlogged.
While clerk of the course Jason Loosemore is hopeful the worst of the weather is behind them, he is unsure whether conditions will improve sufficiently for Saturday's action to go ahead.
Newton Abbot are also due to race on Sunday.
Loosemore said: "We're going to have a look at things at lunchtime today. The ground is currently heavy, waterlogged in places.
"We had 36 millimetres of rain from Tuesday night into Wednesday and we now have water lying on the track in some places.
"We had another shower last night and the water is starting to get into the ground and it's getting softer all the time.
"The forecast suggests that we shouldn't get any more rain until Saturday, but it is a question of whether things will improve fast enough.
"We'll check on conditions today and see where we are. The inspection is primarily for racing on Saturday and we'll see about Sunday's meeting later on."
