O'Connor the only success for Ireland this morning

Irish sharp-shooter Derek Burnett’s chances of making the final of the Men’s Trap in London look to be slipping away.

The Longford man shot 70 from 75 after this morning’s opening three rounds, putting him well outside the Top six to make the final tomorrow.

He has two more rounds tomorrow morning to claw his way back into contention.

In showjumping, Cian O’Connor is through to the third qualifying round of the individual event.

O’Connor and his horse Blue Lloyd 12 ended their run in 31st place, which was enough to see them progress.

However, there was less success for Billy Twomey who has dropped out of the top 45 and will not go on to Round three.

Peter O’Leary and David Burrows were forced to settle for 10th place in the Men’s Star Medal Race, the Irish crew crossing the line more than 40 seconds behind the Swedish Gold medal winners.
