Warwick announce inspection plan

Officials at Warwick will stage a 3pm inspection tomorrow to decide whether Saturday’s Flat fixture can go ahead or whether it will be replaced by a National Hunt card.

The Flat course is currently unraceable and the British Horseracing Authority have announced that should that remain the case on Wednesday, the meeting will be replaced by a six-race card comprising of five hurdle races and a bumper.

Warwick clerk of the course Sulekha Varma said: “The Flat course remains unraceable at present with considerable water logging and some areas of standing water.

“If the current forecast of further rain through the week runs true, there will be no chance of sufficient improvement in the Flat course for racing to be staged on it on Saturday evening.

“In contrast, the hurdle track remains in a suitable condition for racing.”

Entries for the provisional jump races will close at noon tomorrow.
