Irish Leger aim for Minsk
One-time Triumph Hurdle favourite Minsk is set to have one prep run before a bid for the Irish St Leger.
Minsk won the Irish Cesarewitch last October for John Oxx and was then sent to Dessie Hughes with the aim of running at Cheltenham.
However, he was beaten on his hurdling debut and was subsequently found to have an infection which put an end to his brief sojourn over obstacles.
With his attention switched back to the level, he has yet to return to Oxx but will do so with an autumn campaign in mind.
“Minsk is having a little holiday at the moment, but I believe he’s going to come back to me in the summer time,” said Oxx.
“I think the idea would be that he’ll have one prep run for the Irish Leger and then go for the Irish Leger itself. We’ll see how we go.
“He obviously had a late start for Dessie and then he had the little problem, but I believe they’re pleased with him now.
“I think he’ll come back to me to have a couple of runs and then he’ll be a nice novice hurdler for the next jumps season.”
