Hereford falls victim to frost
Officials at Hereford have made an early decision to abandon tomorrow’s National Hunt meeting due to a frozen track.
Clerk of the course Keith Ottesen had called an inspection for 11.30am this morning but following a heavy overnight frost, he sees little point in delaying the inevitable.
Ottesen said: “We had an improvement yesterday as the rain had helped a lot of the frost come out of the ground, but it got down to minus 6C overnight and the course is frozen again now.
“We couldn’t have abandoned on Friday as forecasts can be wrong, but we were forecast a cold night and that is what we got.
“Temperatures could get down to minus 2C tonight and there is just no way the course will recover in time.”
