Plumpton call Sunday check

Plumpton’s meeting on Monday is subject to an 8am inspection on Sunday due to frost.

Part of the course is still frozen in places and clerk of the course Mark Cornford has called an early check to make everyone aware of the situation.

He also believes they will have a better idea of the forecast on Sunday morning.

“We need some help to improve the situation as part of the course is still frozen and there is still some snow left,” said Cornford.

“The trouble is daytime temperatures are not improving much, so with this in mind we will have an early look on Sunday.

“By then we will have a much better idea of where we stand. We’ll know what state the course is in but more importantly the forecast should be more accurate going forward.

“Some are saying it could be 5C or 6C going into Sunday night and Monday morning.

“However, if there’s no change in the situation, we’ll save everyone a lot of trouble. It may be warmer so we’ll give it every chance.”
