Haydock given green light

This afternoon’s meeting at Haydock will go ahead as scheduled after a dry night at the Merseyside track.

Following heavy rain on Friday, clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright called a precautionary inspection for 8am due to an unfavourable forecast.

But after further rain failed to materialise, Tellwright was happy to bring the inspection forward and give racing the green light.

He said: “It’s good news as we had a dry night and we’re fit for racing. We had a wet day on Friday and the forecast was for more overnight, but thankfully we didn’t get any.

“There is the possibility we could get the odd passing shower later today, but we should be able to cope with that all right.

“Conditions are obviously going to be very testing.”
