Haydock gets go-ahead

This afternoon’s meeting at Haydock goes ahead after the track passed a precautionary inspection.

Clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright had planned to check conditions at 8am in light of a forecast for heavy rain.

However, despite the venue seeing plenty of rain overnight, Tellwright reports the track to be raceable after bringing forward the inspection.

He said: “We have had a wet night but the outcome was not as bad as we feared. There is 15 millimetres of rain in the gauge but we are fit to race, although the ground is heavy.”
