Irish duo pocket €11k in World Cup tournament
Denis Lynch and Jessica Kurten picked up more than €11,000 between them when they finished first and second in this evening's two-phase competition at the five-star World Cup in Mechelen, Belgium.
Lynch was the faster of the Irish duo, stopping the clock with Thomas Straumann's Calvaro Z gelding, Night Train, half a second ahead of Kurten, who was piloting APR Brother Services's grey gelding, API Largo.
The Tipperary rider collected €6,500 for his victory, while Antrim-born Kurten picked up €5,000.
However, the prize money becomes even bigger later tonight when the Belgian Grand Prix yields a total of €50,000, and culminates in tomorrow's World Cup class, where rewards include a €25,000 car and €100,000 in cash.
