Jeremiah McGrath has escaped with just bad bruising following a nasty incident at Cheltenham yesterday.

The conditional jockey was detained overnight in Cheltenham General Hospital where he underwent tests following his fall from Dave’s Dream in the Jenny Mould Memorial Handicap Chase.

McGrath, who was celebrating his 21st birthday, was thrown from the saddle when the Nicky Henderson-trained gelding blundered at the fourth-last fence.

He also appeared to be kicked by another horse when on the ground.

“Just getting discharged from hospital now. Thankfully no fractures, just bad bruising. Plenty of box rest,” McGrath said on his Twitter account.
