Nine-day ban for jockey Powell

Brendan Powell jnr was handed a nine-day suspension at Taunton after being found guilty of using his whip with excessive frequency on No Woman No Cry.

The Colin Tizzard-trained 15-8 favourite edged a thrilling renewal of the Taunton And District Branch FSB Novices’ Handicap Hurdle, but his rider was in trouble with the stewards.

Seven-pound claimer Powell will be suspended between December 8-16.
