Snow Fairy is to stay in training as a five-year-old following her fine effort in the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Ed Dunlop’s filly produced a strong run from the rear of the field to be the first older horse home in third place behind other fillies Danedream and Shareta in the Longchamp showpiece.

Owner Cristina Patino has given her approval for Snow Fairy to continue her racing career and first she will head to the Far East where she was so successful last year, winning the Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup in Japan and the Hong Kong Cup.

“I was very proud of the filly and it is terrific news and such a sporting gesture that Mrs Cristina Patino, the owner, has given us the green light to carry on racing her as a five-year-old,” the Newmarket trainer told www.edunlop.com.

“Snow Fairy’s four-year-old campaign started late because of her injury in Dubai but she has repeatedly produced a personal best this summer.

“Improving from the Eclipse, she ran such a brilliant race against Midday in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood and stepped up another gear to give So You Think a fright in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.

“Now, she has reversed the form with the Coolmore horse by pulling out what is surely her best performance yet in Paris.

“Frankie (Dettori) felt that she might win a furlong and a half out and even when it became clear that she could not match Danedream’s finishing kick, she never stopped trying and ran all the way to the line.”

“Snow Fairy has done us all so proud on her travels and if Mrs Patino agrees, she will soon be heading East again, either for the Japan Cup or the Queen Elizabeth II Cup, which she won last year.

“On the way home she will again take in Hong Kong, which proved such a successful stop-off last year, too.

“It is all very exciting and to think that we can look forward to doing it all over again next year.”
