Instead, the master of Ballydoyle will rely upon Devotion, fourth in a Listed race at the Curragh when last seen. She will be ridden by Colm O’Donoghue.

Two of the likely market leaders for the Group One event are Godolphin’s Lyric Of Light and John Gosden’s Fallen For You who fought out the finish of the May Hill Stakes at Doncaster.

On that occasion the Godolphin filly came out on top by a neck but had to survive a stewards’ inquiry as the pair came close together.

A most poignant winner would be Roger Varian’s Firdaws, a daughter of Eswarah, who won the Oaks in 2005 for Michael Jarvis, who died on Tuesday.

Sir Mark Prescott obviously rates Albamara highly to be stepping her up in class so quickly, while Mick Channon’s Royal Ascot winner Samitar brings solid Group form to the table, although she was well beaten in the May Hill.

David Elsworth’s Salford Art, Clive Brittain’s Semayyel and the Paul Cole-trained Swingland complete the nine-runner field.
