Moyglare glory for Maybe

Maybe stretched her unbeaten record to five with a thoroughly professional performance in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh.

Maybe stretched her unbeaten record to five with a thoroughly professional performance in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh.

Smartly away under trainer Aidan O’Brien’s son, Joseph, the daughter of Galileo, winner of the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot, tracked the pace set by stablemate Soon.

As that one gave way, Maybe (8-13 favourite) took over with two of the seven furlongs to run and never looked likely to be caught, with Fire Lily coming out of the pack to take second, a length and three-quarters away.

La Collina, second to Maybe in the Silver Flash Stakes, had to settle for third this time.

Paddy Power cut Maybe to 7-2 favourite (from 5s) for the 1000 Guineas.

Stan James were unchanged at 7-2 for the Newmarket Classic, but trimmed the O’Brien filly to 5-1 from 7-1 for the Oaks.
