Collina builds towards Moyglare

La Collina is on course for the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh on August 28 following her surprise Group One win at the County Kildare course.

The Kevin Prendergast-trained filly came with a powerful late run to lower the colours of Aidan O’Brien’s previously unbeaten colt Power in the Phoenix Stakes.

That race was over six furlongs and she steps back up to seven for the fillies’ feature.

La Collina’s first two starts were over the longer distance. After making a winning debut at Limerick in June she was then beaten a neck by Maybe at Leopardstown the following month.

She will get the chance to reverse the form with the O’Brien filly, who was successful on the same Curragh card last weekend.

“She’s come out of the race very well,” said Prendergast.

“She’s going to run in the Moyglare, all being well.

“She’ll be back up to seven furlongs and that shouldn’t be a problem.”
