Moore surgery goes smoothly

Ryan Moore has undergone successful surgery on a broken humerus and a broken thumb, according to his mother, Jayne.

Moore was brought down in a three-horse pile-up at Goodwood on Saturday, with the injuries having put paid to his chances of being crowned champion jockey for a fourth time.
