Lonsdale Cup likely for Bajan

David O’Meara is leaning towards the Lonsdale Cup, rather than the Betfred Ebor, with Goodwood Cup third Blue Bajan.

The nine-year-old was conceding weight all round in the Group Two contest following a victory at the same level at Sandown earlier this season, but ran a superb race to be beaten just half a length.

Blue Bajan is near the top of the weights for the Betfred Ebor at York on August 20, but his most likely target is the Lonsdale at the same fixture.

“He’s come out of the race very well and it was a good run from him,” said North Yorkshire-based O’Meara.

“We’ll see how he is, but I would think we’ll be taking him back to York for the Lonsdale.

“He’s in the Ebor as well but I would doubt he’ll run in that.

“I would say the Lonsdale would be more likely.”
