Lame Borderlescott out of Goodwood

Borderlescott is lame and will not run in the Audi King George Stakes at Glorious Goodwood next Thursday.

The popular nine-year-old sprinter, winner of the Nunthorpe Stakes in 2008 and 2009, was unsound after a workout on trainer Robin Bastiman’s gallops.

Bastiman is having the injury checked out, but has already ruled Borderlescott out of next week’s Group Two sprint, which he won 12 months ago.

“He’s not well. Unfortunately he came off the gallops lame today,” said the Wetherby handler.

“I’m taking him to the vets at Malton.

“I hope he hasn’t fractured a leg behind. It’s the same leg where the problem was in the Temple Stakes.

“It might not be anything to do with that. He might just have pulled a muscle. I’m hoping that’s what it is and it’s nothing more serious.

“He won’t be running at Goodwood next week, that’s for sure.”
