Slumber, ante-post favourite for the John Smith’s Cup next weekend, is also among 17 confirmations for the Princess of Wales’s sportingbet.com Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday.

Barry Hills’ three-year-old would bring some strong form to the table, having won the Derby Trial at Epsom and having finished third to Nathaniel and Treasure Beach at Chester.

Slumber finished third behind Pisco Sour in the Tercentenary Stakes at Royal Ascot on his last outing.

Hills also has another strong string to his bow in Redwood, second to Rewilding in the Sheema Classic when last seen.

Mark Johnston has plenty of options in the Group Two event, with Dordogne, Eternal Heart, Hurricane Higgins and Queen’s Vase winner Namibian all still possibles.

John Gosden’s Buthelezi could make the step up from handicap company, while the Mark Tompkins-trained Ted Spread will be looking to atone for a near-miss at Pontefract.

Luca Cumani’s Afsare, the Godolphin duo of Campanologist and Cavalryman and the Roger Varian-trained Laaheb add further strength in depth.
