Jockey Hawkins discharged from hospital
Jockey Richard Hawkins was discharged from hospital on yesterday evening, it has emerged.
The amateur rider had been hospitalised since April after having lost consciousness in a fall at Taunton.
Hawkins was knocked out when parting company with Tiger Dream in a selling handicap hurdle at the West Country venue.
He has happily now been discharged from Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital.
Lisa Hancock, chief executive of the Injured Jockeys Fund, said: "I spoke to Richard's mother, Trudi, this morning and she confirmed that Richard was discharged yesterday.
"As you can imagine his family are absolutely delighted and Trudi said Richard is already settling back into old familiar ways.
"He will be returning to hospital to receive regular physio and speech therapy but having spent 11 weeks there, I know he is desperately keen to have some time at home and get back to normality."
