Counsel Crowned Chester king

Crown Counsel's productive spring continued as he sparkled in the Boodles Diamond Eternity Handicap at Chester this afternoon.

Mark Johnston has already sent his colt to Deauville to pick up place money on two occasions, as well as winning a Ripon handicap and finishing fourth at Newmarket five days ago.

Frankie Dettori was quickly up with the pace on the 5-1 shot, pulling a length away from the determined Fred Willetts and the 1-2 favourite Captain Bertie.

"He didn't maybe run quite so well at Newmarket but he seemed well so we came here as there was good money on offer," said Johnston.

"We'll take it as it comes - he'll have to work his way along the handicap route."
