Maguire succeeds in overturning ban
Grand National-winning rider Jason Maguire was successful today in his appeal against a 10-day riding ban handed out for taking the wrong course at Wetherby on Sunday.
Maguire said he had taken evasive action to avoid the injured Harry Haynes, who was still being treated after a fall on the previous circuit.
The local stewards banned Maguire from May 3-12 inclusive, but the British Horseracing Authority disciplinary panel quashed the suspension on hearing his appeal.
Paul Gallagher was the other rider to take the same course as Maguire at the weekend but he elected not to appeal earlier in the week.
