Hanagan makes early push in title race

Champion jockey Paul Hanagan was off the mark on only his second ride of the new Flat season at Lingfield today.

Hanagan was riding Miss Work Of Art, a Richard Fahey-trained two-year-old in the Premier Showfreight Yearling Bonus Scheme Maiden Stakes, and she was popular enough in the betting to be sent off the 11-8 favourite.

She may have been slowly away but found her feet off the home bend and flashed three and a quarter lengths clear.

"It soon comes around, but I'm looking forward to it," said Hanagan.

"She was a little bit green early on, but once the penny dropped she came home well. She has a lovely temperament and I'm really pleased with her."
