Further hospital assessment for jockey Greene

Rodi Greene remains in a special care unit in hospital following an horrific fall at Lingfield on Monday.

Greene displaced a bone in his neck and is unable to fully manoeuvre his right arm after being unseated in the opening contest at the Surrey circuit.

The jockey was taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill and although initial reports suggested he would be moved St George's Hospital in Tooting on Monday night, he remained in Redhill on Tuesday morning.

Greene's agent, Russ James, said: "I've spoken to Rodi's wife Alison this morning and contrary to what we were all told last night, he hasn't actually been transferred to St George's Hospital yet.

"He's in a special care unit and his condition is the same as it was last night.

"The doctors have confirmed that there is nothing broken, but he has definitely got a displaced bone in his neck which they think is impinging on the nerves, giving him this semi-paralysis in his right arm.

"The surgeon is seeing him some time today to decide what the next plan of action will be - whether he needs an operation or manipulation or what ever.

"Alison is due to arrive at the hospital sometime this afternoon, after which she is going to update me and I will be able to update everyone else."
