Chepstow on weather watch

Chepstow’s meeting tomorrow will need to pass a precautionary inspection at 7.30am.

The going at the Monmouthshire venue is already heavy and a band of rain is due to hit the track overnight.

While clerk of the course Keith Ottesen says they will take some of the 8-12mm that is forecast, anything towards the higher end of the scale could cause problems.

“The weather forecast has changed in the last 12 hours and we are now due a heavy band of rain instead of a light band,” said Ottesen.

“We are now being told to expect anything between 8-12mm and we wouldn’t take much more than that.

“Obviously it is better to be on the safe side so we’ll have a look.”
