Mon Mome ruled out for rest of season

Venetia Williams’ 2009 Grand National hero Mon Mome has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The 11-year-old has not been seen in racecourse action since falling in last season’s renewal of the Aintree spectacular and he will not be returning to Merseyside in April.

“Mon Mome will not run this season. We made the decision at the end of last week but, all being well, he will be back next season,” Williams told www.dailymail.co.uk.

“It is not career threatening. We had to take a pull with him in November but the very fact that he was entered at the weekend shows how close he was to a run.”
