Inspection called at Warwick

Saturday’s high-profile meeting at Warwick must today pass a 2pm inspection.

The recent wet spell has left standing water on the hurdles track following 11 millimetres of overnight rain.

The card is due to feature the totesport.com Classic Chase and the Neptune Investment Management Leamington Novices’ Hurdle.

To compound the issue, the chase course was also found to be unraceable this morning.

Clerk of the course Andrew Morris said at 8am: “We were forecast two to three millimetres of rain last night but, in fact, were subject to quite a cloudburst between 7pm and midnight.

“That has left standing water in places on both courses. The forecast is largely positive, so there are circumstances to suggest we could see improvement.

“But as things stand right now, we are unraceable and do need that improvement.”
